Old traditions

Years ago it used to be a tradition to wear something old, new, borrowed and blue...it used to be a tradition to kiss a chimney sweep...it used to be a tradition to throw the bouquet.  What's happened to these old favourites?  Have they been forgotten now that we are in search of the bigger fancier venue, the flashier honeymoon and the most unusual cake?

We've started to try and capture some of these traditions again in our shoots - they seem to add a quirky variety to the day!

What are your stories?

  1. My friends and family have all done the old, new, borrowed and blue tradition.... and been given horseshoes and black cats... we figure the more luck you can get the better!!!

My next door neighbour used to pose as a chimney sweep too... but i figure people don't want sooty, dirty people around their expensive dresses! He he!

The other one my friends follow is the not seeing each other the night before the wedding... but that one is a bit tricky for people who go away to get married I guess.... don't know what happens there?

I think traditions are important no matter how much you spend on a wedding.... they are part of what makes the day special.

  2. does it matter if one thing encapsulates more than one of the traditions? for example borrowing an old blue sapphire necklace or garter? and then just having the new dress?
